just wondering how many hp gains if i swap type s head in my si 02 ?
if i swap the whole engine its easy o need someworks?
a2 engine works with si tranny?

Don't sweat the english. Not sure how much HP gain you will see with an A2 head swap. The engine swap is straight up, no problems. You will need an A2 ECU also of course. You can use the A3 tranny, but it is not ideal for the A2 motor. If you are on a budget though it will work

You know what, I dont know how many people have done this swap. It's crazy that we have never seen any #'s, or is it just me?

The problem is that most of the people doing this are doing budget builds, and don't want to spring for the dyno time. Street tuning can do a lot, but in my opinion there is just no substitute for dyno tuning when it comes to making power. Otherwise you can make changes, but how do you know what they are doing? :confused:

no... you have to remember that the K20A2 revs higher and has a higher compression ratio, thus still making a bit more power than a head-swapped K20A3

does any one know what the compression ratio fo the a3 block with the a2 head b/c i have a k20a2 and a k20a3 i want to know this so compression ratio is low i can run higher boost

a2 11.0 to 1, a3 9.8 to 1. Unless I got those switched around. Check out the technical section for more inro on each.

When you put an A2 head on an A3 motor the overall compression is LOWER than the stock A3... An A2 head is milled out more then an A3 head. That's one of the reasons it flows better.

Eric, are you sure about this? I have seen a3 and a2 heads and the a3 head seemed to have a lot more area milled out of the combustion chamber. I have also read this. Are there any pictures out there to back your statment up?
I would like to know if I have this wrong....thanks

Two different members of another site had professional compression tests done before and after and found the reason most people that do a head swap in an EP don't make much usable power is due to lowered compression. That's also why a headswap on a turbo A3 motor makes MORE of a difference then you would think, since the lower static compression means more air packed in at a particular psi setting on the boost controller.

Real VTEC... Which of course gets wasted entirely if you keep your 5-speed tranny...
With the 5-speed you fall out of VTEC every shift and with KPro adjusting engagement of VTEC to the proper correct RPM you make shit-power... VTEC is where it is for a reason apparently...

So by doing this setup people gain the real vtec like the type-s and old b-series?
