I am not trying to start a fight, but Maine is the east cost also....
Not that I want to drive to Maine, I live in nj. The ec is a big place, lets not make the meet on one end or the other... 8)

I think a vacation to FL is better than most other places. Even if we went halfway up the east coast, I don't know many taking vacations to Virigina over FL. (Nothing against VA guys! :) )

I understand mustclime, but... unfortunately I can't plan events in states I don't live in :( not yet, until I have a job I can take time off of and more funds to travel around with. One day I promise this event will travel up the east coast :) and maybe even West, too :) But all in due time... I can't build a city in one day :)

I do hope you feel like making the drive down to lovely, sunny south florida :)

Nj= toxic wast dumps, roads that look like they belong in Irac, Car jackings on every corner.......

People should try to meet up if they are coming from the same state. They could get some videos on the way there and make it a little more interesting of a drive. Im in NC and would love to go. If anyone else in NC is gonna be making the trip then they can hit me up and we can meet up somewhere.

That would be awesome.. that's what I wanted last year, but everyone came at different times and forgot thier cameras...etc... so it didn't work out..

Good, cause I am on the waiting list for a pavilion, looks like I might just have to get out there super early and get a regular grill :(

Due to lack of funds, I didn't have a chance to reserve the pavilion months ahead of time like before, I call Markham everyweek to check for availablity of pavilion with electric and lots of parking :)

not as of right now, I am trying to see what Markham comes available with, the lady at the desk told me that sometimes people usually cancel 1-2 weeks before, so that she might have a pavilion but nothing as of yet with electric. I think there might have been a small without electric still available for that weekend, when I called last time. But not having a pavilion is not a big deal, the grills are still all the same size and there is benches elsewhere so we'll just have to see what happens...

I am only serving normal amerian BBQ food this year... hamburgers/hotdogs and soda/water.... chips and some bbq baked beans and maybe coleslaw.... I spend about $1k last year in food/drinks and cannot afford to do the same this year.

Yeah, you went too big last time. I remember when the SFLGTG got started, we had people bringing food and then we were all just cooking. Then a collection pot got started and then we just started charging for food and drinks.

Maybe we can get it more grassroots and have people contribute some food and drinks instead of money. Might help as well.

Just an idea.

Yea problem with that is that someone always says they are coming with X, X, X
and then they never show and then someone always ends up paying for what is needed. I did the meets this way out of pocket so we wouldn't run into this problem anymore...

I just need the $$ pot, I have had a few hand me a $20 and say here is my donation, which is cool.. so I have collected a little bit of $$... but I know I will spend about $500-600 on food and drinks (not including pavilion if I can get one)... hopefully as the years get bigger I can do more and not have to worry about $$

I am gonna go to the park on Friday and see if anyone cancelled thier pavilion rental and if there is anything free, if not, I am gonna drive the whole park to find the best Grill with the best parking and table set up!!!
