i'm thinking about getting 225 on 16 inch slips will these slow down my times? WOn't they be better for the launch? or would it be better to go with 215?

I have 225's and I like them more than my 215's...although the 225's are on a 15" slipstreams versus the 17" heavy rim I had before. I haven't got a chance to hit the strip yet, but it definitely feels like a world of a difference

I think 225-width tires should be optimal for our car.

I"m running a 225/40/16 on my ep and they feel great. No issues with rubbing or anything, plus I think I'm roughly 4% shorter overall with this size, which helps acceleration slightly.

My Drag Radials are 225 R15s. We'll see how they compare in a few weeks.

thanks for the replies, i am looking for a good all around tire. My friend told me that 225 on a 7 inch wide rim would be shitty in the corners because the side wall would roll easily; is there any truth to this?

Yeah, there is some, but I'd bet it would be better than a 205 on 7, or a 225 on 6.5

It also depends on the specific tire you go with.

i was thinking of getting the kumho 712, i was thinking of getting the azenis but i heard they they suck in wet. Is this true? cuz i live in the north west and it it gonna be sunny for the next 5 months. and how does the tread wear last?

It's rained for a solid week here in PA and I had decent grip with my azenis. I think what the issue is with them is this: You get SO used to the kick ass dry grip they have that you come to rely on it. I have only had mine a few weeks and I still remember what my grip was like before. I honestly have to say that the dry grip is beyond excellent and the wet grip is a tad better than stock. In my book having stock wet grip (when you shouldn't be screwing around anyway) is a fair trade off for the best street legal grip you can get in the dry. And with the turbo I think my wet grip is less than most would experience because of the extra torque anyway.

Go for the Azenis - you won't be dissapointed.

Mine are z-rated, but Im pretty sure they are all 200. The best thing about the Azenis, is that they are CHEAP for such a grippy tire. They dont live longer than 15K on the streets with a straight alignment, but it will be a VERY FUN 15K.

Even my wife, who drives an automatic civic DX hatch, noticed the difference when she inherited my old Azenis and replaced her SP-SPort A2s. Of course, she also no knows the meaning of hydroplane

amazingly enough I have NEVER lost traction in the rain yet... of course mine are 195's... That makes a difference too.
