CEL Problems - Mechanical 02 Sim

Available at your local automotive store. Spark Plug Non Fouler PN 42009 ($4.99)

You now need to drill out 1 of the non foulers using a 1/2" drill bit. When finished this is what it will look like.

Side by Side comparision of the orignal and now modified non foulers

o2 Sensor inserted in the modified non fouler

Second, unmodified non fouler now installed on modified non fouler

Original non fouler->Modified non fouler->o2 sensor

    Fully installed

By moving the secondary o2 sensor away from the direct path of exhaust flow and limiting what exhaust gas can get to the o2 sensor the ecu believes that there is a functioning cat still in the system.

Milage at time of install 18900 and ecu reset, will post details in roughly 100-150miles when cel usually comes on

There are no electronics involved in the mod...I'm confused what you want to hardwire

so what this does is it doesnt let the sensor touch the flow of the exhaust? its still reaing the air, right?? im confused as how this works. all it would do is get the same air but its not moving as much. AM I DUMB OR AM I CLUELESS???

As I stated in my first post

The secondary o2 sensor sees a certain amount of exhaust flow when there is a cat. Once that cat is removed the secondary o2 sensor sees the same amount as the primary cat causing cel.

What this is doing is limiting the amount of exhaust flow the secondar o2 sensor sees by pulling it back away from the main flow of the exhaust and surrounding it with only a roughly 1/4in hole allowing exhaust flow to the sensor itself. Thus tricking the secondary 02 sensor to believe that there is a functioning cat.

I reached 150 miles today and still no CEL. I would consider this a functional method in removing CEL due to race header/test pipe.

Over 500 miles, still gettin' love with this glove (sorry, I haven't slept lately). Anyone want to dyno before and after this mod? That would be super. Thanks, Mark W.

I'm almost at 1000 miles with no cel

A dyno would be worthless because this mod doesn't due anything except get rid of cel due to test pipe/race header

But doesn't the CEL piss off something in the ECU? Also, wouldn't the decrease in air flow past the o2 sensor change the settings in the ECU?

we have two sensor..the front one at the downpipe is what sends the a/f ratio to the ecu....that sensor has not been changed.

The one that has been changed is the 2nd sensor...the one into the cat. It just sends a signal to the ecu...if the signal is out of range, the ecu thinks the cat is bad...that's it. So no cel=no pissed off ecu.
